Connect Claude Code
Give Claude Code access to your Wonderblok files over MCP. It takes about two minutes, and you only do it once per computer.
You need Wonderblok 0.9 or later and Claude Code 2.0 or later. Wonderblok can also set this up for you during onboarding. The app is available on macOS today, so the commands below are for macOS; Windows and Linux builds are coming soon.
Add the server
- 1
Run the command
Open a terminal and add Wonderblok's MCP server to Claude Code at user scope.
Terminal (macOS) $ claude mcp add --scope user wonderblok -- \ "/Applications/Wonderblok.app/Contents/MacOS/wonderblok-mcp" - 2
Check that it connected
The server should show as connected. If it does not, open Wonderblok once so your system can verify the app.
Terminal (macOS) $ claude mcp listwonderblok /Applications/Wonderblok.app/…/wonderblok-mcp ✓ connected - 3
Start a new session
Sessions started before you added the server cannot see Wonderblok. Start a new one, then send a test prompt.

What the command sets
- --scope user
- Wonderblok is available in every project. Use project to limit it to one repository.
- wonderblok
- The server name your agent sees. Keep it, so docs and prompts match.
- wonderblok-mcp
- Ships inside the app and updates with it. No separate install.
Rules before edits
Before its first edit in a file, Claude Code must call get_guidelines and send back the hash it receives. If your rules change, edits pause until the agent reads them again. You do not need to set anything up for this.
Claude Code can only reach files that are open in Wonderblok or that you pass by path. It never sees the rest of your computer through this server.
Troubleshooting
Run claude mcp list. If Wonderblok is missing, run the command in step 1 again. If it is listed but not connected, move Wonderblok to Applications and open it once, then start a new Claude Code session.
